FAQ
Q: Can my child come to camp even if they’ve never played baseball on a team? (they know how to catch and throw, they’ve watched their older sibling play, they show a bug interest, they are very athletic.)
A: This camp is a skills camp made to build on existing experience of playing the game which includes but is not limited to baseball rules, basic skills, and baseball IQ. Think of our baseball camp like a hockey camp, you would only send your child if they already were a hockey player and not just a recreational skater. If this is your child’s first season playing baseball, they are very welcome! By the time camp starts the season will already be half done.
Q: What does my child need for a day at camp?
A: They should be wearing their NDG Baseball Camp t-shirt every day (provided on their arrival day-1), have their basic baseball equipment (jock, cleats, glove, helmet, bat, baseball pants, NDG Baseball cap), sunscreen, water bottle, healthy snacks and a full lunch. Optional items are batting gloves, bathing suit/towel.
Q: How are the groups made?
A: Based on registration we group kids together by age and skill level to streamline coaching to the same level of baseball IQ and to make it an enjoyable experience for the kids. For example, some second year 11UA players could be placed in a group with the 13UA/B kids. Otherwise you can expect your child to be in the same group as their friends who have registered, presuming they play the same level of baseball. Note that girls and boys are mixed together at camp.
Q: How much baseball do the kids experience in a single day?
A: Lots! We have two fields available to us all day long. Each group has minimum of 2 field practices daily as well as a camp-wide morning warm-up on the big field. While the 9U group tends to need more of a variety of activities and some free-play, the 13U group only want to remove their gloves to eat lunch.
Q: Who are your staff?
A: All staff are current or past NDG baseball players with a very strong understanding and love for the game as well as the desire to coach kids up to the next level while having fun.
Q: How do you communicate with parents?
A: The big notices will be sent out by email. Once your child starts camp with us we use a texting platform to notify all parents of any changes or updates, be it for weather or otherwise. This is a two-way number where the camp director can be reached at any time for any reason.
