NDG Baseball was founded by Frank Donnelly Jr. in 1961 and built through the hard work and dedication of many, from the likes of William Hurst to Lionel Geller throughout the years. Hurst and Geller have since had fields named in their honour, so it was decided to re-name NDGBA’s most prestigious prize for Rankine in 2023.
Rankine, a four-time winner of the award himself, embodied the very spirit of our organization for over 20 years as a coach, convener, and executive director, amongst many other roles before stepping down in 2022 and handing the reigns over to a new generation that continues to look to him for leadership and advice, and will for many years to come.
